Artists Sharon Blythe and Jackie Coughlin are presenting Two Old Gals With Brushes in the August Backroom Show at the Hope Arts Gallery.

Blythe, a Hope resident, has been involved in the local arts scene and organizations for much of her life. She has taken workshops in various mediums with a variety of instructors. She had focused on watercolours but now is working in acrylics. She is currently a member of the Artists At Work (AAW) and has shown at many Hope and Fraser Valley locations, Gibsons and Terrace.

Coughlin is also a Hope resident and AAW member. She has held watercolour workshops for them as well as at the campsite in Arizona where she escapes from winter. Her work is greatly influenced by people in Arizona and the scenery. Although she specializes in water, she also does some work in acrylic. She has had numerous shows in Hope and the Fraser Valley.

The exhibit runs from Aug. 1-28. The exhibit opening is scheduled at the Hope Arts Gallery on Aug. 11 from 7-9 p.m., where attendees can meet artists and enjoy refreshments.

The Gallery is operated by Hope and District Arts Council and run by volunteers, open Tuesday to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information call 604-869-3400, email hopearts@telus.net.
