Nearly 4,000 people attend Brigade Days

Fall-like weather on the Brigade Days weekend did not deter people from attending.

The weather might not have co-operated over the weekend, but according to Brigade Days spokesperson Crystal Peters, close to 4,000 people attended the event.

Early Saturday morning, the weather almost seemed to transform from summer weather the day before into fall weather with temperatures staying below 20 C and rain.

“There was a change in attendance on Saturday, but it was still amazing to see all the support from attendees despite the rain,” said Peters. “We had to cancel the horse vaulting demo before the concert for safety concerns for the performers. The Boondock Bike Jam was also postponed until Sunday in relation to the weather, other than those two changes Brigade Days ran normally with the rain!”

Luckily for the Saturday morning parade, the rain eased up just in time.

“The parade on Saturday morning set the mood for the weekend and always gets everyone excited,” she said.

Peters added that Brigade Days offered something for everyone as the food trucks were always packed with customers and the Sports Bowl stands were packed for motor sport events, including the new Jump Your Junk event where drivers drove their cars off a ramp and tried to stay in the air for the longest distance. Peters also said the bike valet “worked great and was very convenient for a lot of people.”
