The Hope Arts Gallery welcomes the annual presentation by Hope Secondary School in June.

They will host an opening reception on June 7 from 7 to 9 p.m., where attendees can meet the artists and enjoy refreshments.

This is the senior art class’s final project — the culmination of two blocks of senior art. They have focused on the concept rather than the technical, in developing an individual idea. The first group selected the concept “wish”, the second responded with “nightmare.”

The medium of choice could be one they favoured or one with which they had no experience. They were challenged to write an artist’s statement to accompany their work. The students’ ages are from 15-18 years old. They have a range of art experience from one to five years.

The gallery is operated by Hope and District Arts Council and run by volunteers, and opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit ends June 28.
