A vehicle fire on Highway 3 had Hope firefighters working hard to contain it.
Six firefighters and BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) were both on scene Wednesday evening (Sept. 6) for a fire, caused by a vehicle rollover, near exit 173. Two people had been in the vehicle and were in the care of BCEHS shortly after firefighters arrived.
“The vehicle travelled off the highway and down an embankment,” said Hope Fire Chief Thomas Cameron. “The fire extended into the nearby brush but was quickly contained.”
Fire crews were on site for an hour. During this time, drivers on the westbound lane were asked to reduce their speed to 70 kilometres.
The status of the two people is currently unknown.
