It was a busy early Monday morning (Oct. 2) for the Hope Fire Department after a pickup truck caught on fire in town.

Firefighters were on scene, at around 12:30 a.m., for the vehicle fire which took place near Park Street and 5th Avenue.

“Our professional volunteers were called into service for a vehicle fire overnight,” said Deputy Fire Chief Joshua Westcott. “Thankfully, due to the rain we’ve recently received, the fire was unable to extend to the nearby property and was contained within the vehicle of origin.”

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze is unknown. Both the fire department and the Hope RCMP are currently investigating the incident.
