Despite a heavy and torrential downpour Tuesday (Oct. 17) Hope firefighters found themselves busy fighting a house fire on Jason Road.
Hope RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, and 12 firefighters were all on scene to tend to a “small single room structure and nearby RV” that had become fully engulfed in flames. According to Deputy Fire Chief Joshua Westcott, the “fire had also extended into the nearby trees and brush.”
“Our firefighters managed to quickly contain the fire with an aggressive attack and get it under control within minutes. And we remained on scene until 9 p.m.,” Westcott said. “Thankfully, the occupant of the residence sustained only minor injuries from the incident.
“Overall, it was a busy day for our tireless fire crews as they also attended an early morning rubbish fire, an illegal burning complaint, and medical call.”
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
