Continued snowfall has resulted in the closure of the University of the Fraser Valley Hope Centre, Hope Cinema and Hope and District Recreation Centre, as well as warnings on highways around Hope.

The UFV announced in an email Saturday morning that all campuses are closed "due to heavy snow, severe weather, and poor road conditions in the Fraser Valley," according to a press release. Hope Cinema announced on Facebook that it will be closed Saturday and Sunday, reopening for Tuesday's shows. Front desk staff at the rec centre confirmed that they will be closed from 5 p.m. Saturday.

Environment Canada also issued a warning for the Coquihalla and Trans-Canada Highway Saturday morning.

"An active weather system off the B.C. Coast will give a prolonged period of snow to the Fraser Canyon region and Coquihalla Summit," they wrote. "Periods of snow will continue through Sunday morning giving total accumulations from 15 to 35 centimetres. The southern areas of the region along Highway 1 between Lytton and Hope and along Highway 5 near the Coquihalla Summit are expected to receive the higher accumulations."
