The Hope and Area Healthy Communities Committee wants to meet you on May 5 for Mobilization Day.
The group recently announced they will be meeting at Camp Squeah that day with the goal to explore issues effecting the health of the community and develop ways to address these concerns.
The committee, which is made up of community service groups, non-profit agencies, and engaged community members from Hope and the Fraser Canyon, has been active for the past 15 years, meeting monthly to work together to address issues facing the community and during the pandemic continued to meet via Zoom.
Thanks to a Plan H grant, funding from Fraser Health and with the lifting of some COVID restrictions, the community partners are getting ready to come together to prioritize community initiatives and strike working groups to make further progress on these issues.
Over the years the committee has been responsible for attracting funding to Hope and its surrounding area, including a $500,000 annual investment from Fraser Health, as well as a variety of grants.
“Hope and Area Healthy Communities Committee breaks down silos and coordinates effort across sectors on initiatives that would be too large or too complex for one person or one group to tackle on their own,” stated Mobilization Day organizer Stephanie Hooker.

The full day runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the camp located at 27915 Trans-Canada Highway in Hope.
