Pickup truck goes up in flames on Hwy. 1 near Chilliwack

Incident happened near Popkum Road; driver not injured

Firefighters were called to extinguish a vehicle that went up in flames on Highway 1 in Popkum on Friday.

The call came in around 10:45 a.m. on June 16.

Popkum Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after 11 a.m. and reported there was a “fully involved” pickup truck in the eastbound lanes of the highway, west of Popkum Road. By 11:28 a.m., the fire was out.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Traffic was backed up in the area as a result.
