Police are seeking information about mischief done to about seven post office mailboxes sometime during the August long weekend.

At this point of time, police are classifying this as a mischief because the post office boxes were damaged but they did not receive any information to suggest anything was stolen.

“The investigation is ongoing and we’re obviously seeking to determine if there is anything that was in the boxes that were stolen,” said Hope RCMP detachment commander Karol Rehdner.

Rehdner said while mail tends not to have details which can lead to financial crimes, police are still concerned about the possibility of identity theft, which could lead to fraud. He notes that this remains a possibility only as police have not determined if anything has been stolen from the mailboxes.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 604-869-7750 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
