Surrey man charged with second-degree murder in woman’s death

Investigators say the two parties knew each other and the incident was isolated

A 39-year-old Surrey man has been charged in the homicide of Pawitarpreet Kaur Sidhu, who was found dead inside her home last week.

Police received a report of the sudden death of the 33-year-old woman inside her home in the area of 76 Avenue and 142 Street in Surrey on April 26 around 8:30 p.m., reads a release from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Hardeep Sidhu, 39, was taken into custody on Wednesday (May 1) by the Canadian Border Services Agency and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit. He has now been charged with second-degree murder.

“This was an isolated incident between parties that were known to each other,” Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said in a news release.

“We’re asking anyone with information or who had recent contact with the people involved, to contact IHIT immediately.”
