KOLCUN, Betty Maxine

August 5, 1930 – December 24, 2016

It is with sad and heavy hearts that the family of Betty Maxine Kolcun announce her sudden passing peacefully in her sleep at the Fraser Canyon Hospital. She was born in Coutts, Alberta and worked on a farm in southern Alberta when she met her husband Clarence. They were married for 68 years. They moved to BC in 1952 with their young daughter Susan. They had four more children while living in the Hope area. They bought a home in Hope where they have lived for over sixty years. There were many family gatherings at their home and it was the hub of many celebrations. Betty is survived by her husband Clarence, daughters Susan (Yuji), Candy (John), Doris (Kelly), Sherry (Jason) and son Gordon (Rhonda). Her grandchildren were her joy. They are Paul (Camille), Kevin (Candice), Marlaina (Warren), Kaytlin (Logan), Rob (Sherry), Nikki (Jodie), Becky (Melissa), Kristy, Jeff (Laura), Amanda and Carey. She also has seven great grandchildren: Kinsley, Cameron, Adam, Tara-Lynn, Shelby, Rylan and James. Betty is also survived by her brothers Leonard (Lois), Delbert (Fran) and Harold (Ramona), sister-in-law Myrna, brother-in-law Danny and a special Aunt Dorothy McCaig, along with numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Harry and Gladys Boettger, her brothers Glenn and Laverne and her sister Delores. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Hope.
