Lanting, Henry

Born July 16, 1936 to Klaas and Klaske (Slump) Lanting in Oosterzee, Holland. Born into a farming family, farming was in Henry's blood. Upon arriving in Canada in the spring of 1952, Henry found work in Delta, first for a dairy farmer, and then digging peat. Several jobs driving truck and working for CP Railway and BC Gas ensued. Henry met the tall beauty, Alma Nanninga and they were married July 30, 1958, settling for a short time in Abbotsford. A dairy farm was purchased in Agassiz and Agassiz became home for the rest of Henry's life. Although the dairy farm filled most of the hours of Henry and Alma's lives, they both became involved in the foundation of the Agassiz Christian School. Henry continued to serve often on the school board while Alma worked on fundraising. In addition, Henry served as often as he could as an elder in the church, realizing that this was a position he could hold with zeal, serving the church he loved. His true servant heart and commitment to his Lord have made Henry a well-respected and beloved member and leader of his church and school community Henry was predeceased by both of his parents, his two brothers, John and Sidney and brother in law, Martin Brink. Henry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alma and his two children and their families: Keith and Neleen Lanting, Janice Lanting and her son, Kaiden, Brittany (Jordie) Hawley, Bradley Lanting, Dorianna Lanting and her daughter Kaci and Dailan Lanting; Juanita and Wayne Reitsema, Nicole, Russell, Lindsay and Valerie Reitsema.
