(Irene) Patricia Lightbody

March 25, 1943- October 9, 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Patricia Lightbody, beloved wife, mother and grandmother on October 9, 2017 in Hope, B.C.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Donald, sons Robert (Deanna) and Patrick (Kim) and her three grandchildren, Lauren, Sidney and Regan.

She will be dearly missed by her much-loved siblings, Jim, Heather and Jack. Patricia will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and her "honorary" grandson, Andrew. Patricia is pre-deceased by her mother Irene and father Thomas.

Patricia was born in Vancouver on March 25, 1943 to Thomas and Irene Grant. She grew up in Penticton and Hope, BC and graduated from Hope High School in 1961.

She attended nursing school at VGH but her plans were interrupted by the calls of family. Patricia and Don Lightbody were married in 1964 in Toronto and moved to Burnaby, Coquitlam and then onto North Delta to live their married life together. Soon after, sons Robert and Patrick were born and their family was complete.

She later returned to finish her nursing degree and graduated with honors from the nursing program of Douglas College in 1981. Patricia spent her career as a dedicated and respected nurse at Royal Columbian and Delta Hospital.

In 1999, Patricia and Don moved back to their home town of Hope to build their dream home. She spent time gardening in her backyard, while hearing the roll of river behind her.

Living in Hope, led her to a life of volunteering within her community and at the Hope United Church.

She loved singing in the choir and supporting all the different church events. She also enjoyed swimming with her friends at the pool in Hope.

In April 2000, Patricia and Don were overjoyed with the arrival of their first grandchild, Lauren. Patricia helped with daycare and soon Lauren and Patricia developed such a special bond. Patricia and Don were thrilled once again with the arrival of two more granddaughters, Sidney and Regan. "Granny" visited them often in Thunder Bay and would always look forward to her next trip.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 27 at 2 PM at the Grace Baptist Church, 949 - 3rd Ave. in Hope, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be warmly welcomed.
