SKEA, Joy

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Joy Skea on March 24, 2011 at the age of 71. She was born on May 3, 1939. Joy was predeceased by her parents Alan and Bessie McLeod, and son David Skea.

Joy is survived by her husband; Donald Skea, daughters; Jane Abrams (Brian), Heather Peters (Justin), grandchildren; Scott and Jordann Abrams and Mitchell, Jaimie and Kelly Peters, sister; Frankie (Jack) Kovach, brother; Bill McLeod, sister-in-law; Marilyn Gaudette, nieces and nephews.

Joy came to Hope in 1961 and was employed as a registered nurse at the Fraser Canyon Hospital until the 1980's. She then worked for Public Health as a long term care assessment nurse. Joy's retirement years were filled caring for her grandchildren, enjoying her aquafit classes and numerous trips to the lake.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Hope Golf & Country Club on April 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Gail Newell will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joy's memory to Hope Hospice (www.frasercanyonhospice.org) or the Leukemia / Bone Marrow Transplant Program of BC (www.leukemiabmtprogram. com).
