Dangerous Coquihalla

How much effort does it take to keep this 10 miles to the summit clear and bare, saving a lot of accidents and maybe lives?

On a recent trip to Merritt, I had two close calls (accidents).

I then wound up sitting in a long lineup for two hours and turned around 28 kilometres up.

The road was slippery, slushy and very rough with the buildup of compact snow and the marks of chains from the trucks.

I can only assume that the road crew has been told to build up the compact snow to save the pavement from trucks with chains.

How much effort does it take to keep this 10 miles to the summit clear and bare, saving a lot of accidents and maybe lives?

Come on highways department, you can do a lot better!
