Bad Rock tours heading to downriver areas this summer from Chilliwack

A few chances remain to get on a bus and be captivated by stories of Stó:lō historian Sonny McHalsie

A few opportunities remain this summer to take a Bad Rock tour from Chilliwack.

The narrated road trips coordinated by Stó:lo Tourism are a unique cultural experience exploring Stó:lo place names and history of the people of the river.

Participants on the “downriver tours” to areas like Sumas or Chilliwack Lake will be captivated by stories that explain Halq’eméylem place names as told by Stó:lo historian Sonny McHalsie, with each offering their own educational experience.

Heading out from the Stó:lo Resource Centre in Chilliwack, the remaining dates for this summer are as follows:

In terms of upriver Bad Rock tours to Yale the dates are Saturday August 10, August 28 (a midweek offering) and Sept 28.

The Sumas region tours are Wednesday, August 14 and Saturday, September 7 departing at 10 a.m. and returning at 4 p.m.

The Chilliwack Lake tour is offered on Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The guided bus tours leave the Stó:lo Resource Centre at #10 – 7201 Vedder Road, Chilliwack BC at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. Bring a lunch, water and wear comfortable footwear.

All tours begin from the Stó:lo Resource Centre in front of the Welcome Figures (Building 10) and return to the same location. Parking and washrooms available.
