Bookworms of Hope can come and exchange the books they’ve been reading during COVID-19 times for new books at a community event Friday.
From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, a book swap will take place at the Read Right Society office at 895 3 Avenue. For every book people bring, they can take another one home.
Organizers are keeping the event safe during the pandemic, Marion Baker confirmed, by sterilizing the books and asking people coming in to wear masks. For those who don’t have one, masks will be supplied at the event. Only one person or one ‘bubble’ will be allowed at the book tables at one time, and there will be sanitizer at the door for people to use before they enter. Markings on the sidewalk outside, 6 feet apart, will also be set up to remind people to practice physical distancing.
There will also be activity packs available Friday for people of all ages, including colouring books, puzzles and scavenger hunts. These packs can also be picked up at the Read Right office on Mondays to Fridays, between 10 and 11 a.m. “A great COVID-friendly idea for families to do together,” Baker stated.
