Harrison welcomes dragon boaters for 15th annual regatta

Harrison Hot Springs welcomed 60 racing teams to its lake Saturday (July 27) for the 15th annual Harrison Dragon Boat Regatta.

The regatta, taking place all day Saturday, saw seasoned race director Greg Lamb taking control of the races. Thousands of people were at the waterfront to watch.

Races were close, with the time between a first, second and third place finish sometimes only milliseconds apart.

The mixed competitive championship went to the team JUICE, with a time of 2:05.972. JUICEBOX came in second, at 2:06:088, and Oddball’s Intro Tuesdays came in third, at 2:06:355.

Dragon Heart Zero! won the Division A championship for mixed teams (2:09:782) while Kent Dragin’ Tails took the prize for the mixed Division B championship (2:24:282).

In the women’s competitive championship, The Seventh Wave took home gold with a time of 2:29:880. Fire on Water came in second (2:31:015) and Orca Women came in third (2:32:266).

The women’s Division A champions were KDBC Dragon In The Drink (2:28.603) and the Division B champions were Chawanda ‐ Squamish DragonboatnAssoc (2:29.829).
