The Hope Inclusion Project is putting a multicultural touch on Canada Day.

They will be hosting a Multicultural Festival this Saturday, as part of Organizing Against Racism and Hate in Hope. The festival will be held at the Legion, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers are hoping that people who come out to celebrate Canada Day in the park will pop over to the Legion to learn about all the different cultures that make up the local population. There will be samples of ethnic cuisine, crafts for kids, make and take activities, international dancing and even a play that’s being produced specifically for this event.

“The goal of the Festival is to highlight and showcase the variety of cultures and ethnicities that represent the people of Hope,” says Marla Rosenberg. “We are also viewing this event as a celebration of Canada’s 150th Anniversary.”

The play, to start at 2 p.m., is an original one, she says. It highlights this town’s diverse beginnings and some of its original families.
