Welcome to Deer Park Haven Farm, where the grass may not always be green, but its produce is always organic, and grown with passion and purpose.

Owned and operated by Joe and Danise Bowman, the 11-acre farm was chiseled and carved into a forested hillside, but that took three years. From 2012, when they purchased the land, until 2015, the Bowmans solely worked on clearing and leveling the land, and building garden beds on top of rock, which has pioneered the art of terrace farming in British Columbia.

And now that spring has sprung, it’s time for the Bowmans to get planting, however, they’re calling upon the community for some assistance.

From Saturday, April 27, to Sunday, April 28, the Bowmans will be hosting a work party on their property in an effort to help build food security in the Fraser Valley: Deer Park Haven Farm will be offering a 20-week food program this season, with free delivery to Hope and Silver Creek, that will offer produce bundles for $20.

With a free shuttle from Hope, a barbecue, and a live band for the evening, the Bowmans are hoping for a decent turnout, and request attendees bring their own camping gear, work gloves, lots of water, and a bag of leaves, or coffee grounds, wood chips, or other organic soil additive, and lots of elbow grease.

To RSVP, please email Joe@HopeBC.Rocks, or MichelleForTheGood@gmail.com, or call 1-844-Grow-Hope.
