Kawkawa Lake Municipal Park gets a facelift

Nestle Waters Canada donates $45,000 to Hope for the purchase of new playground equipment

Nestle Waters Canada has donated $45,000 to the District of Hope for the purchase of new playground equipment at Kawkawa Lake Municipal Park.

Installation of the playground equipment was completed earlier this month, but is now open for use.

The popular local park also features a sandy beach, public swimming, grassy recreational play area, boat launch, park benches, picnic tables and restrooms.

Mayor Laurie French said the latest contribution further demonstrates the company’s commitment to working with the district to enhance the community.

“Given that 30 percent of Canadians are either overweight, obese or susceptible to diabetes and the fact that obesity has been identified as Canada’s most critical emerging health issue – particularly amongst children born after the year 2000 – it is important that all young people in Hope have access to safe playground equipment that affords them daily physical exercise,” added Nestle president John Zupo. “That, combined with proper hydration and good nutrition will create the right environment for healthy living.”

Nestle Waters Canada has a bottling facility in Hope and distribution centre in Chilliwack.
