It’s time to lace up and pound the pavement for this year’s Run for Hope, which has the goal of raising enough funds to keep the Fraser Canyon Hospital prepared with the necessary equipment. To make this happen, the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) has joined forces with the Auxiliary to the Fraser Canyon Hospital to get as many people as possible involved in the annual event.

Taking place on a 5-KM-loop that comprises a mix of road and trail along the Coquihalla River, the event can be run or walked, and is open to everyone of every age and ability: the only requirement being the wish to participate.

“The route is absolutely stunning,” remarks Liz Harris, Executive Director FVHCF.

“We have picked this loop not only because of the beauty, but because people of all types of ability can do it. We have seen runners, dog walkers, strollers. It is truly a fun event for the whole family.”

This year’s Run for Hope event will be hosted on Saturday, Oct. 2, beginning at 9 a.m.—registration starts at 8:15—and participants will again be lead by the running gurus of Garrison Running Co.

Returning for its third year, organizers say they are hopeful this year’s event participants will surpass last year’s total of 35.

Registration is $10 for each participant, and pre-registration is available online at fvhcf.ca/runforhope. This year there is an online pledge system to help participants raise funds from near and far.

Funds raised during this event will go directly to supporting the purchasing of needed equipment for the Fraser Canyon Hospital.
