Seattle Cossacks returning to Hope’s Brigade Days

Popular groups back to wow crowd with stunts in the street

Everyone has a favourite thing to do or event to watch at Hope Brigade Days.

Whether it’s taking in the fascinating performance by the Seattle Cossacks, or sitting back to enjoy the live music and fireworks, there are countless reasons to set aside some time to attend this weekend.

It all kicks off at 4 p.m. at the 6th Ave. Fairgrounds, where the majority of the events are held. That’s when Shooting Star Amusements will be starting up, along with Food Truck Alley (fairgrounds) and the Trade Parade at the curling rink.

The opening ceremony is at 6:45 p.m., and the evening includes ministock racing, local band Swampwater, and Appaloosa. Entrance to the fairgrounds is free on Friday evening.

Saturday morning starts with the annual Hope Hustle, a two-pitch tournament at various ball diamonds, and the pancake breakfast at Memorial Park.

The beloved Seattle Cossacks stunt and drill team perform on Wallace Street at 10 a.m., just before the parade at 11 a.m. Wherever they ride, people watch and wonder in fascination, waiting for the next man to climb higher. You won’t want to miss their performance.

Entertainment carries on throughout Hope on Saturday.

Be sure to look for the free events throughout the sites, including the Creative Cafe at the curling Rink, free balloon animals for the kids, the kids bicycle parade on Sunday, and even a pop-up puppetry storytelling and dance party.

Kids ages 12 and under can get creative and decorate their bikes, put on a costume and show it off, and be ready for the parade on Sunday at 9 a.m. at the Hope Dog Park. Afterward, check out the pop-up puppet show and dance party in the curling rink. These events are free for everyone.

Wristbands, buttons and raffle tickets are available at Hope Pharmasave, Hope Lordco, Canyon Cable, Silver Chalice Pub and Hair Trendz.

Adult wristbands are $20, youth (six to 12) wristbands are $10 and young ages five and under get in free.

Buttons are $25.
