The Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope takes place in Abbotsford on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The event takes place at Mill Lake Park, with the opening ceremony and warmup at 9:30 a.m. and the walk at 10 a.m.
Participants can walk around the lake once for a 2.5-kilometre distance or twice to complete five kilometres.
Closing remarks and prizes are at 11 a.m.
Participants are invited to come decked out in their best teal outfit or costume. Prizes will be awarded for team and individual spirit.
Star 98.3 FM will be on hand with their $500 cash vault, offering participants a chance to crack the code.
The walk is Ovarian Cancer Canada’s annual fundraising event. It is the only walk in Canada to direct all attention and funds to improving outcomes and the lives of people living with – and at risk of – ovarian cancer.
Held during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, the family-friendly event raises vital funds for ovarian cancer research, education and resources.
Ovarian cancer is the most fatal women’s cancer.
To date, the walk has more raised more than $33 million.
