A group of Chilliwack artists is sharing how they've played with shadows and lights for their most recent exhibition.

The Chilliwack Visual Artist’s Association presents 'Light and Shadow' at the O’Connor Group Art Gallery in the Chilliwack Cultural Centre from March 12 to April 12.

"Whether it be a sun-dappled modern landscape, a high-contrast chiaroscuro Renaissance portrait, or a take on Carl Jung’s shadowed world of the subconscious, artists have long been fascinated with exploring light and dark," the association wrote in a group statement.

The theme also lends itself to wide interpretation creatively.

"Light and dark can represent good and evil, day and night, paradise versus the underworld, a healthy mind versus mental illness."

The association is made up of a diverse group of artists in the Chilliwack and surrounding areas. Their work includes paintings, photography, drawings, ceramics, textile art, and more.

Light and Shadow is in the gallery at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre from March 12 to April 12. The opening reception is set for Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
