With a career spanning 40 years and numerous chart-topping hits, Alfie Zappacosta is undeniably one of Canada’s premier songwriters and performers. And now he’s making his way to Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge for another performance in the intimate Chilliwack setting on Sunday, Sept. 23.

Although he decided on a musical career as a guitarist in his teens, Zappacosta continues to evolve as an artist to this day by “doing it his way,” which has earned him an impressive song catalogue and a discerning loyal fan base.

“This will be Zappacosta’s sixth visit,” said Emmanuel Asprakis, Bozzini’s owner. “And he oly gets better with time!”

With vocal dexterity and proficient songwriting skills, Zappacosta was discovered by a publisher who helped bring his name to the world stage: his songs Start Again, Passion, When I Fall in Love Again and Nothing Can Stand In Your Way became staples on adult contemporary radio, solidifying Zappacosta’s place as a Canadian rock star.

In 1988, Zappacosta earned JUNOs for Album of The Year and Most Promising Artist, an American Music Award for Most Popular Album of The Year, and named the Canadian Publishers Music Association’s Best Rock Star. From there he lent his distinctive baritone voice to Broadway as he starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita.

This year, Zappacosta is touring his polished live concert, delighting audiences with his sophisticated, intimate, and intense personality. His performance was created to deliver an emotional blend of acoustic, jazz and pop music that will prompt listeners to engage fully.

Tickets to see Alfie Zappacosta at Bozzini’s Upstair Lounge are $29.50, and can be reserved by calling 604-792-0744. Doors open at 6, and the show starts at 8 p.m.
