The Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra (CMO) is kicking off the holiday season with a joyous afternoon of music as they present Mozart Everywhere on Sunday, Nov. 4, at GW Graham Secondary School.

Lead by Gregory Johnson, the CMO will be joined by guest soloist, Jane Hayes, who’s piano playing is renowned across the Fraser Valley.

“Jane has been a tireless Canadian ambassador and proponent for live music,” said Paula Quick, a member of the CMO.

“Jane’s highly schooled piano techniques and very ‘human’ approach to all of the music that she performs yields a depth of interpretation that, as the Ottawa Journal noted, ‘one so often looks forward to and fails to get,’” Quick added.

Featuring Mozart’s Piano Concerto in D minor—one of only two piano concertos written by the composer in the minor key—Quick says the Mozart Everywhere event begins at 3 p.m., and will be a musical delight to all who attend because Hayes is well-known for her sensitive and dynamic portrayals of Mozart’s works.

“Jane’s enthusiasm for her work is palpable … (and) I was especially captivated and intrigued by her stated intent to bring out the human behind the genius, Mozart.”
