Johnny & June comes to Hope Cinema Cafe on July 2.

You don’t have to go to Jackson to hear your favourite Carter and Cash songs.

Johnny & June are coming right to Hope. The tribute duo will be bringing an acoustic show to the Hope Cinema Cafe on July 2, featuring the best songs, storytelling and good-hearted laughs from Johnny Cash and June Carter-Cash.

It’s an all ages show that has been performed all over by the duo, Doug Thoms and Kyrst Hogan.

Thoms has performed in New York and across the globe with the percussion phenomenon STOMP!, and has been featured as a vocalist with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He writes and produces innovative modern rock theatre such as his acclaimed stage version of Pink Floyd’s The Wall and his original rock opera Elektrafire.

Hogan is a professionally trained singer, actress and dancer with a degree in theatre arts, and has worked as a principal singer, dancer and actress in New York for over a decade in such productions as the world famous Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring The Rockettes, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Atlantic City Casinos as well as regional and off-Broadway theatres and national touring companies.

Look for her one-woman show, The C-Word about her cancer journey in the 2022 Vancouver Fringe Festival.

These two musicians have crafted a nostalgic and heartfelt experience of live acoustic music and storytelling that’s engaging for everyone. It features a repertoire of Johnny Cash’s hit songs and a few rare cuts from all eras, plus Johnny and June’s famous duets, Carter Family favorites, and of course, a bit of June’s infamous comedy.
