Tim Neufeld and the Glory Boys, a Chilliwack-based band, will be stopping in their hometown as part of their Canoegrass tour on Oct. 6, 2024.

A Juno Award-winning, Chilliwack-based band will be making a hometown stop on its Western Canada tour this fall.

Tim and The Glory Boys is bringing its Canoegrass tour to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Formed in 2013, the band consists of Chilliwack's Tim Neufeld (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), Colin Trask (dobro/percussionist) from Agassiz, and Brenton Thorvaldson (banjo/guitar). They call their boot-stompin' sound 'canoegrass,' which is a nod to both their bluegrass roots and the rustic country Canadiana that the band has recently begun exploring.

This sound anchors the band's new self-titled, full-length album which includes five songs that have already hit Top 40 at Country Radio and have generated almost 30 million streams worldwide. Song 'When You Know You Know' received gold certification.

The band won a Juno Award for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year in 2014 for album Trees, and again in 2017 for album Hootenanny! Tim Neufeld and the Glory Boys was also nominated in the same Juno category in 2019 for album The Buffalo Road Show.

They have become mainstays at the Canadian Country Music Association Awards, having been nominated in 2021 for Group of the Year and Rising Star, nominated again in 2022 for Group of the Year, and in 2023 they won both Album of the Year and Music Video of the Year.

Their Canoegrass Tour runs Oct. 2 to Oct. 20 with stops in B.C., Alberta, Sasktchewan and Manitoba. The shows will be a blend of country, bluegrass, and blue-collar comedy where folks are invited to laugh along to their well-documented Letterkenny-like hoser escapades.

"We are so excited because this is our hometown show," said Trask of their Oct. 6 concert in Chilliwack.

Replacing Brenton Thorvaldson on the tour will be the band's former guitar/banjo player Matt Stride, as Thorvaldson and his wife just had their first baby. On the road, Thorvaldson is known as the band's "safety officer," Trask added with a laugh.

Tim and The Glory Boys, with special guest Nice Horse, bring their Canoegrass tour to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 and available at in person at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre Box Office, online at chilliwackculturalcentre.ca, or by calling 604-391-SHOW (7469).
