Aerial acrobatics, contemporary dance and visual theatre will blend together when a performance comes to Chilliwack this fall.
Corporeal Imago brings 'Throe' to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on Nov. 15, where people can experience the sight of six performers as they ascend and fall in a world of aerial ropes.
The work, choreographed by former Cirque du Soleil artists Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes, is about finding strength and beauty in moments of struggle, and ultimately, it’s a celebration of the human capacity to endure and evolve.
Known for their bold storytelling and striking visual style, Corporeal Imago pushes the boundaries of movement, invoking the inner struggles that define the human experience.
Before the show, people are invited to a Steampunk Soirée at 6:30 p.m., where they can dress in their best steampunk outfits and celebrate the evening with a night of art, culture and adventure. The UFV Culinary Arts Program will provide a selection of hors d’oeuvres, plus there will be a special cocktail menu while folks browse the visual art exhibit curated by The Reach Gallery.
