The Chilliwack Chiefs are moving into the BCHL playoffs after a record-breaking regular season.

The team finished off a banner season with a record 37 wins, 12 losses and five ties, keeping them at the top of the Coastal Conference. The team also scored the most goals in the league, with 257. That averages out to 4.7 goals per game, Barry Douglas the team's vice president noted in the weekend wrap-up email.

The Chiefs hosted Victoria at the Coliseum Friday night (March 28), in front of more than 3,100 fans. Douglas said it was a slow start to the game, with no goals in the first period, but ended in an exciting overtime win.

Mateo Mrsic got them on the scoreboard early in the second period.

"Victoria bounced back with back-to-back markers, then we answered with two more to finish the second period," Douglas said. "Nico Grabas, a Canisius College commit, scored our fourth goal in the third before Victoria tied it up and we were off to overtime.

"Three minutes into overtime, Dustin Renas raced and sniped a beauty goal to send the fans home happy with a 5-4 win," he added.

Montreal Canadiens draft pick Quentin Miller got the assist on the overtime goal and stopped 19 out of 23 shots on net.

And then on Saturday, the Chiefs won 7-5 in Langley.

The Chiefs will host the first game of the 2025 Rogers BCHL Playoffs, this Friday at the Coliseum, against the Prince George Spruce Kings. Game two is the next night, and they head off to Prince George for another two games.

This weekend's game will be a big ones, and the first intermission entertainment will match that energy. The Chilliwack Senior R&B band will be performing Friday night, and the world-renowned Sardis Drumline will be entertaining the crowds Saturday night.

Also, on Saturday the team will announce the $10,000 season ticket holder prize draw, presented by Zone Garage Fraser Valley, Stone’s Speed Shop, Certified Auto Sound and Mountain Mechanical Pacific.  Saturday will also see a brand-new lawn mower presented to a season ticket holder courtesy of Makita.
