Over 50 vendors for 3rd Annual Silver Creek Elementary School Winter Market

Market will take place in early December

Silver Creek Elementary School’s (SCES) hopes to see a strong turnout during their third annual Winter Market.

“We have a very good variety of vendors this year, which is great,” said Karolyn Ridgway, who is the market’s organizer. “A lot of the same vendors are coming back but we do have some new ones. And its just something fun to do in town. It’s also earlier this year, so the weather should be better.”

Hosted by the SCES PAC, over 50 vendors will be at the school on Dec. 7 with plenty of goods for people to buy and enjoy. Running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the market will include a mix of small businesses and student entrepreneurs who will be selling a variety of unique artistic goods that include (but aren’t limited to) knitted items, soaps, candles, chocolate, cards, pottery, beadwork, jewelry, snacks, and stuffed toys.

In addition to the vendors, a raffle basket, filled with a variety of goods donated by vendors, is available to be won.

Entry for attendees is by donation of a nonperishable food item for the Hope Food Bank. Vendors, meanwhile, had to pay an entry fee in order to secure a table to sell their goods. Money from this fee, as well as raffle ticket sales, will go towards the SCES PAC — who will be using the funds to help buy uniforms for the SCES’s sport teams.

Last year, the PAC raised $2,600 which went towards supporting SCES students and providing them with fun experiences. SCES’s Grade 7 students also helped with food bank donations.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, so the more people come out to support our vendors, the (greater the chance) we can make it bigger and bigger every year,” Ridgway said. “So, the more support we get from the community, obviously, the better it can be for the future.”
