Hope Secondary School’s (HSS) Boys’ soccer team is currently the pride of the community after winning all six of their games during the Clearwater tournament — with no goals scored against them.
“With most of the team in Grade 11, the future looks bright for high school soccer in Hope,” said Randy Taylor, the HSS Mustangs head coach, via email. “Leading the charge was the defensive wall of Griffin Larson and Liam Brown. The attack was led by Ryan Taylor scoring three goals and Brown scoring two goals.”
The team played in Clearwater last weekend (Sept. 21 to Sept. 22) and faced six other teams from B.C. Led by their coach, the Mustangs took victories against teams from Barriere, Merritt, Clearwater, 100 Mile, Williams Lake, and Fort St. James.
The score for each game was: 1-0 against Barriere; 3-0 against Merritt; 1-0 against Clearwater; 1-0 against 100 Mile; 2-0 against Williams Lake; 1-0 against Fort St. James.
The team hopes to continue their winning streak next weekend (Oct. 4 to Oct. 5) during their home tournament. The tourney will take place at both the HSS and the CE Barry fields.
