The RCMP announced today Superintendent Bryon Massie as the new Officer in Charge of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional detachment.

Massie spent 16 years in the Fraser Valley starting in 1989, an RCMP news release stated. During his time here the Chilliwack, Agassiz, Hope and Boston Bar detachments were brought together into the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

He then moved to the Lower Mainland, spending time as a supervisor of the Integrated Gang Task Force among other postings. Most recently Massie was operation support officer with the Coquitlam RCMP.

“As soon as I heard that the job of Officer in Charge of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment was available I couldn’t pass the opportunity to come back and serve the communities that my family and I have called home for close to 20 years,” Massie said.

The Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment covers a geographical area from the U.S. border in the south to Boothroyd in the North. The detachment serves Agassiz, Boston Bar, Chilliwack, Harrison Hot Springs, Hope and smaller communities within its boundaries.
