Regarding the investigation into the motorcycle accident in Hope, B.C.: After reading an online article about this incident, I get the impression that people want to blame police for injuries to a criminal. The man got himself in trouble by committing a crime. It is the job of the police to pursue and catch criminals. It’s almost as though some people believe it’s never the fault of the injured criminal if he is attempting to escape, fails to stop, and get arrested, but rather that it’s the fault of the police who chase them.

It’s about time to put the blame where it should be—on the criminal. Otherwise we might as well pay the police to stay home and drink coffee and eat donuts. In this case it appears the criminal tried to evade the police while riding a cruiser, assuming, of course, that he actually did the crime. Why else would the police be chasing such an upstanding citizen of the community? It’s how the game is played.
