The River has a voice
Her own voice
She runs along and speaks in tone
Sometimes quietly and still,
Then chuckles and giggles at will
The River has her own voice.
You give off your appealing sounds
Night or day, all year ‘round
Your ripples - small, yet large enough
Draw me in to hear your voice.
Tell me your deepest secrets now
Loud and clear, tell me close!
For I am listening, let me hear.
Tell me why you flow and ebb
Without a bother on your head
No distance blame, no journey short
Through narrow creeks you twirl your way
And laughs when width you find outstretched
To spread and dance so merrily.
Teach me O River to be content
In spate, or high or shallow find
Tis you and God – the Master hand
Directs each day the course you run
For in your path newness is found
Revealing your truth to all around.
The River has a voice,
Her own unique voice.
