Letter: A refill of the heart, through a home-cooked meal

Editor,

Editor,

I learned early this week that the Globe will be shutting its doors leaving us to ponder the age-old question, what’s for dinner?

I’m not quite too sure why the Globe is so special to me. Maybe it’s because it was the first normal meal after my mom died, who was a cook at Park Street Manor and at home. After months of sadness and take-out, dysfunction becomes the normal and normal a distant thought. Something of a wayward fantasy of being back on earth a hundred years past my ascent to Mars.

After months of displacement — tired and defeated — I order what remains to be a memorable meal filled with the abundance of comfort. A meal that took me home to my mom’s table and offered me a coffee like it was Sunday morning. A good home-cooked meal filled with nourishment to my soul.

I’ve been hooked ever since.

So thank you to all the staff at the Globe for not just another meal but catering to my requests and giving my heart the refill it so needed. I wish each and every one of you massive success in all your future endeavours.

Thanks for the food!
