Letter: Help pick what comes on Hope’s big screen

Editor,

Editor,

At our April and May events, we distributed a survey asking for our audience to help us select the next six-month line-up of classic films. It’s a difficult task to pick a mere six films from the list of 60 cinematic treasures provided, but that is the task we face each time we come up with a new program. So many great films to choose!

At this point we have a group of 10 films (or 11, actually) that have pulled out to an early lead. There is still one more opportunity to cast your vote and that is at our June event where we will be showing Steven Spielberg’s classic “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” on Thursday, June 28.

Here is the Top 10 (11) so far: Fargo; Airplane!; Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; Goodfellas; Fiddler on the Roof; Gone With the Wind; Amadeus; Planes, Trains, and Automobiles; The Party; Schindler’s List; The Deer Hunter.

Quite a diverse line-up!

We hope you add your picks to the mix. The more input for us, the better. And there is plenty of room to make your own suggestions from films not on the list as well. Those suggestions will likely then make it to the next survey.
