Run for Hope raised $1700 last Saturday (Oct. 1) for the Fraser Canyon Hospital.

Hosted by the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) and the Auxiliary to Fraser Canyon Hospital, runners participating in the 5 km walk started at the hospital, followed the Coquihalla River into Thacker Park, and then doubled back. The run was lead by Garrison Running Co. — an athletic store dedicated to running — and the money raised went towards equipement for the hospital.

Established in April 2000, FVHCF raises funds for vital equipment and programs funded or endorsed by Fraser Health. They serve the communities, local hospitals, facilities, and programs of Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, Agassiz, and Harrison Hot Springs.

People wanting to support the Fraser Canyon Hospital can do so by contacting FVHCF at 1-877-661-0314 or online at www.fvhcf.ca.

Alternatively, on Nov. 5, people can attend the Silent Auction hosted by the Auxiliary and Fraser Hope Lodge. Taking place at the Royal Canadian Legion, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., tickets for the event are $10 and are currently available at Hope Pharmasave, Canyon Cable, the Fraser Canyon Hospital Gift shop, or from Auxiliary members.
