The District of Hope’s Ratepayers Association’s president, John Duff, was honoured Tuesday (Oct. 11) by the District of Hope for his work over the years.

Mayor Peter Robb and council presented Duff with a carving as their ‘thank you’ towards him filming every council meeting, and public hearing, that has taken place over the past four years.

“I wanted to thank someone that a lot of you may not know,” says Robb. “At every council meeting, and public hearing, this gentleman is recording the meeting for the public. And that’s John Duff of the Ratepayers … John, thank you very much. We do appreciate you getting the word out.”

The Ratepayers Association is a non-profit organization of Hope homeowners dedicated to keeping community taxpayers aware of what’s going on in the city. Duff has been leading the Ratepayers since Oct. 5, 2016 when he took over as interim president before eventually becoming the group’s current leader.

People interested in watching the recordings of past council meetings, and public meetings, can visit the District of Hope’s Ratepayers Association Facebook page.
