It’s a time of celebration for the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation as it commemorates its 25th anniversary in April.
“We are incredibly thankful for the unwavering support of our communities over the past 25 years,” said Elizabeth Harris, executive director of the foundation.
“We are a small team, but we have big hearts thanks to the warmth and generosity of our community. Together, we are making a significant impact on healthcare in our region.”
The foundation is expressing its gratitude for the support it’s received and recognizing the accomplishments it has achieved over the past 25 years.
With the support of its donors and partners, the foundation said it's been able to upgrade and provide renovations at its four hospital sites in Mission, Abbotsford, Hope and Chilliwack.
This includes providing state-of-the-art-medical equipment such as: CT scanners, mammography and ultrasound equipment, stretcher beds, baby scales, vein finders, colonoscopes, pacemakers, bladder scanners, and innovative tools and resources such as technology for dementia patients.
Currently, the foundation is investing in programs that support the holistic well-being of communities and its patients. Recent initiatives include art therapy sessions and concert series.
Founded in April 2000, the foundation supports the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Chilliwack General Hospital, Mission Memorial Hospital, Fraser Canyon Hospital, and several other regional health centres.
In order to do this, it raises “vital funds and increases awareness to support the advancement of health care in facilities and programs operated, funded, or endorsed by Fraser Health Authority.”
The foundation also forms partnerships with “individuals, local organizations, and businesses to enhance health care services within the Fraser Valley Regional Hospital District.”
Maggie Reimer, the former chair for the foundation’s board, credited Harris for the group’s continued success and growth.
“The foundation has become successful under the leadership of Elizabeth Harris,” Reimer said. “I sincerely applaud the advances Elizabeth has made in pulling all the communities together. Great things continue to be accomplished.”
As part of this milestone celebration, the foundation is asking the community to invest in the future of local health care through volunteering, participating in fundraisers, and donating.
