Man seriously injured, 2 in custody following shooting in Chilliwack

Incident happened on Avalon Avenue on Fairfield Island; police looking for witnesses

A man was left seriously injured and two people are in custody following a shooting in Chilliwack on Wednesday evening.

RCMP were called to Avalon Avenue on Fairfield Island for reports of shots fired around 10 p.m. on July 31.

When police arrived on scene, they found a man with "visible injuries" who was transported to hospital by ambulance. He reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.

"As a result of the quick coordinated response, two suspects were identified and taken into custody," stated an Aug. 1 press release from the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment.

"The Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crime Unit has conduct of the investigation and initial evidence suggests this was a targeted, isolated incident."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information including dash-cam footage is asked to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 and quote file 2024-32563. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
