Motorcyclist dead after hitting light standard in Abbotsford

The driver of a motorcycle is dead following a fatal crash in Abbotsford, and police are now looking for witnesses and dashcam footage.

Abbotsford Police Department were called out to a serious collision at the intersection of Golden Avenue and Trethewey Street on Saturday, Aug. 17 around 3:30 p.m.

When they arrived on scene, they found a motorcycle which had crashed into a light standard.

"Tragically, the operator of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries," Const. Scott McClure stated in a press release.

The road was closed as police officers, with the help of the Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Service (ICARS), investigated the scene.

Investigators are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage from those who may have been driving near the collision location around that time. Anyone who can assist is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department non-emergency line at 604-859-5225 and quote file number 2024-34337.
