No school for SD78 on Queen’s state funeral, Sept. 19

Federal, provincial public workers to recognize holiday

All schools in Fraser-Cascade School District 78 will be closed on Monday, Sept. 19, in observance of the national day of mourning to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the holiday, and B.C. Premiere John Horgan followed suit hours later.

“Over the last few days, British Columbians have joined with people across the country and around the world in an outpouring of support for the Royal Family over the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. Our government will follow the lead of the federal government and join with other provinces in observing the national day of mourning to mark the Queen’s funeral,” Horgan said in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon.
