Two skiers found and rescued from Zoa Peak thanks to their inReach beacon

Hope Search and Rescue were able to quickly reach the lost skiers on Sunday (Nov. 13)

The use of an inReach beacon helped Hope Search and Rescue locate and rescue two skiers on Sunday morning (Nov. 13).

Search and Rescue is once again reminding people to be prepared if they’re planning on heading into the wilderness. This reminder comes when two skiers, who got lost Friday evening (Nov. 11) near Zoa Peak, used their beacon, allowing Search and Rescue to find them quickly.

“Subjects were successfully rescued and reunited with family at 1 a.m. Thanks to the use of their beacon we were able to get a fix on their location and make quick work of the rescue,” said Hope Volunteer Search and Rescue in a Facebook post. “They were well prepared and did the right thing calling for help when they realized they were lost in the back country.”

In the same Facebook post, Search and Rescue said that having a fire and shelter can make the difference when it comes to surviving “cold winter temperatures.” They are reminding people to pack extra layers and food, and have more than one way of starting a fire if they’re heading into the wilderness.
