The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) Hope Centre, as well as all schools in School District 78, are closed today (Nov. 30).

In a tweet posted on their twitter, School District 78 says that “due to poor driving conditions on Highway 1 and Highway 7, all schools are closed.” They advise that students stay home and be safe for the day.

Similarly, on their website, UFV says that the Hope campus is closed today due to the winter conditions and snow.

As of now, about 151 schools are closed today for the school districts of Chilliwack, Hope, Langley, Abbotsford, and Maple Ridge due to the snow.

According to Environment Canada weather, the forecast was 20 to 25 centimetres of snow for Chilliwack to Hope — which is accurate in some areas. An additional 10 centimetres of snow is expected to fall in Hope before easing up in the afternoon.

Environment Canada recommends being careful while driving and adjusting to the changing road conditions. Visibility while driving will also be reduced during the times of heavy snow.
