A motor vehicle crash brought traffic to a grinding halt over the Agassiz-Rosedale bridge late Thursday afternoon.

RCMP spokersperson Sgt. Mike Sargent said a car rear-ended a semi truck. Emergency medical personnel evaluated an elderly man who was driving one of the vehicles, and he was medically clared.

The Agassiz Fire Department was also on the scene, helping direct traffic and performing other duties. Traffic heading to Rosedale was backed up toward Agassiz as the bridge was shut down for a brief period. It was cleared by later that afternoon.
