Job seekers,students, and lifelong learners will find opportunity at the Chilliwack Hiring & Post-Secondary Education Expo, coming up on Thursday, Feb. 13.
Running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel, the free event connects attendees with leading employers and educational institutions across the region.
“This is an ideal event for anyone considering a career change, re-entering the workforce, or exploring educational pathways to enhance their skills,” says Amanda Perley, Black Press Media Events Manager. “With so many organizations under one roof, it’s a unique opportunity to engage directly with potential employers and educators.”
Diverse exhibitors, abundant opportunities
The expo will feature a range of employers actively recruiting for positions in industries like healthcare, technology, public service and construction. Companies such as BC Corrections, City of Abbotsford and JBS Equipment will be on-site to discuss current job openings. Meanwhile, educational institutions including Camosun College and Ridge Meadows College will showcase programs aligning with local labour market demands.
For those interested in advancing their careers, the Sqwá Adult Education Centre offers a variety of programs, from high school completion to culinary arts courses led by award-winning chef Gerry Brandon.
“Whether you’re looking to start fresh or build on existing skills, the exhibitors are ready to guide you toward the next step in your work,” Perley adds.
Attendees will also find resources tailored to their specific needs, such as WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, which provides individuals with disabilities the tools they need to achieve employment success. Local organizations like the Seabird Island Band and Sts’ailes Nation are also committed to fostering community engagement and workforce development.
