In the wake of the third COVID-19 wave, Fraser-Cascade School District 78 has updated their health and safety guidelines.

According to a letter from the district dated March 31, the district has changed rules in light of a change in rules from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control and the provincial government.

All staff, adult volunteers and visitors as well as students grades four through 12 must wear a non-medical mask or face covering at all times while indoors at school.

There are a number of exceptions, which include a person unable to wear a mask due to behaviour reasons or health conditions, if a person is behind a barrier and if a person is unable to take off or put on a mask themselves without assistance.

Other guidelines from the province include:

1. Prevent crowding at all times, particularly at the start and end of the school day

2. Ensure the use of masks does not reduce or replace physical distancing and other COVID-19 prevention practices

3. Stagger recess, lunch and class transition wherever possible.
